Registration of Motor Vehicles

No motor vehicles shall be driven or permitted to be driven in a public place unless it is registered.

An application for registration has to be made in Form 20, enclosing the following documents :-

  1. Form 21, Form 22.

  2. Form 34 if the vehicle is under Hypothecation.

  3. Address Proof.

  4. Sale Letter.

  5. Insurance Certificate.

  6. Vehicle for registration is needed to be produced before the registering authority for inspection. 

The registering authority shall register the vehicle on realisation of motor vehicle tax and prescribed fee for registration.

The registering authority shall assign to the vehicle, for display thereon a distinguishing mark (Registration Mark).

For renewal of Registration Certificate, application has to be made in Form 25 along with the Registration Certificate and Insurance Certificate.
