Beware
: Scooterists / Motorcyclists
You are Vulnerable on the Road
On the Road
: It is generally seen in accidents that the drivers
and passengers of smaller vehicles suffer most. This
condition gets worsened in the case of accidents of tw0 -
wheelers because no outer protection is provided in them.
However, by taking some precautions these accidents can be
avoided or reduced to minimum.
- Drive with complete road
sense and honour all traffic signals, traffic lights and
road signs
- Drive in your lane
within prescribed speed limits and change your lane in a
lane changing zone with proper signaling
- Maintain a correct
riding posture which will allow you to observe traffic
coming from all sides and take smooth action
- Maintain correct
distance from other vehicles on the road for proper
braking. The faster you travel the greater is your
braking distance. Use a brake ratio of 60% front and 40%
rear on dry road. On wet, sandy or oily roads use rear
brakes only
- Always stop before stop
line to facilitate the movement of pedestrians and other
road users
- Give way to traffic on
your right and always overtake from right side after
looking behind in the rear view mirror for any vehicular
movement behind you
- Negotiate a roundabout
properly and cautiously allowing smooth movement of
traffic without causing chaos

- Driving, particularly a
two wheeler, needs special caution and alertness, so
drive only when you are in a fresh mood
- Be prepared to meet all
kinds of drivers during the course of your drive. Their
driving leaves much to be desired and they may
frequently confront you with an accident prone situation
in which you must constantly adjust your driving to
avoid any accident. You should assume that the other
driver is not as considerate as you and that he will not
respond to the traffic rules as you do. In these
circumstances, you will be better prepared to adjust
your driving so as to prevent accident
